Finally, a long weekend.

So tomorrow I have a day off!  First one in a long time...  It's been a months since my new position at work and to finally just relax and have a long weekend.  After a while of working and not taking an extra day or two you can get tired and things just don't go well.  Everyone knows that vacation time is important so make sure you take it!  Take a day off here and there and just relax, sleep in.  Do anything you want and make it a long weekend!

I as a single Dad I've gotten used to not seeing my little one every weekend so i've learned how to make weekends go buy without my little one.  I have a long weekend with Kay, we plan on having some lunch sleeping in, maybe even hitting the gym.  I know one thing I won't be doing...  Working!

As I get ready for this weekend I hope everyone had a great day and stays warm.

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Christopher

A mid week date

This week  Quinn and I got to go out and just have a Daddy Daughter date!  Kay had a meeting after work so it was just us!  We stopped and got some Taco's and some dessert.  After we just hung out and ate in the family room.  We watched some TV and just relaxed.  It was a good night and Quinn laughed when I told her it was a Daddy Daughter date night.

We went out for dinner because I won't have her this weekend so I took advantage of the longer daylight!  I hope everyone has their own date nights with their kids!

Always remember,

You are never alone...

Christopher

A late weekend Post

The weekend before last I had Quinn and what a weekend it was.  Friday and Saturday we celebrated my dad's birthday.  Which I will post about after this.  Sunday however we went to Aunt Ro's.  We worked on some homework and just did some studying.  We had a small project to do with writing and learning her words.  She had a lot of fun and she did great.  We had lunch after and just played with some toys.

After we went home and just rested as the day was almost over and we had to get back to her Mom's.  It was nice catching up with family we haven't seen them in a while so it was good for them to see how big she's gotten.

I hope you enjoy the pics!

Always remember,

You are never alone...

A Mid Week Break

This week is Feb Break so Quinn had the week off.  Tonight I picked her up and we just hung out.  Even though she had off, I didn't.  We had a nice dinner watched a little TV then headed up to bed.  I can't wait for our weekend.  We don't have much planned but we'll think of something.  We always do...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Winter Break!

Getting caught up

This past weekend I took some time with Kay to get caught up on cleaning up the house as well as seeing some friends.  With it still being cold out we cleaned up some old areas of the house and got to throw out a lot of stuff we didn't need anymore.  When it comes to cleaning it can be a pain yes but just keeping your home in order and not so cluttered is very important.  I found old papers, CD's and just stuff I don't use anymore so it was time to clean, dust and figure out to keep or toss.

Saturday we had some friends and my brother over, it was nice to catch up with some social calls as well.  Just getting together with friends can help fight the cold.  We can't wait for this winter to pass but don't let it keep you down!  We had some food and drinks and just played games.  It has been a while since I have seen some of them so catching up was due.  We also took some time this weekend to organize the house and get some much needed frames hung.  Different pictures of Quinn and friends and family up.  Looking around and seeing what things we can update or fix.  The good news is now with a little more cleaning to do we can enjoy the rest of the winter and relax.

With spring cleaning being further out we have some time to still enjoy just being inside with a good movie and warm blanket.  They do say winter has a few more weeks left so just try to push through.

I hope everyone is staying warm, watching some Olympics and just relaxing...

Always remember.
You are never alone...

Love,
Christopher

Remembering Mr. Hughes

Tonight was a sad night, we came together to give thanks to Brian, Kevin, Tim and Sean's dad who passed a few days ago.  Brian (Hughey) and all his brothers have been very close to me for as long as I can remember.  We came together to show support and love, we caught  up a little and talked as everyone came and went.  I had Quinn and Kayla with me and we had to feed Quinn so we couldn't stay as long as I wold have liked.  Mr Hughes was a great man, growing up with the Hughes I can remember before he moved away doing scouting events and different things at the house.

I think the last time I remember seeing him was at Kevin's wedding.  It was good to catch up and talk to him there.  It was so long since I saw him so it was so good to just talk.  Tonight was sad but with everyone there it was good.  Wakes and funerals like weddings always bring us together in some way.  Bringing up memories and talking, just being there for each other.

Quinn did very well, everyone liked seeing her and seeing how big she was.  Talking about he school.  She was cute and she was shy but that's okay.  That's what kids do.

I want to take this time to say my heart goes out to your family and if you need anything to always just ask.

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Love,
Christopher

Tuesday's Tip Keeping up with the battle

This weekend was like always, awesome with Quinn.  I still find my self having to battle her temper.  She is doing well but she sometimes still try's to set the stage and tell you how it's going to go. Saturday she was very upset and we had to sit in time out for a while.  We talked and come to find out sometimes she just gets upset because she misses me.  I told her I miss her a lot too and that we just gotta keep our cool.  I told her if she wants to see me more she has every right to and to ask her mom.

Sunday she was have a moment when it came to sharing and with the combo of being tired, well she had a little fit...  Over time I have realize to just sit quietly and give her a few changes.  Then I bring her up to time out and let her cool down. I don't scare her or anything.  Just bring her up and tell her she can't come out till she's ready.  After some time she asked if she could come out I could tell she was cooling down.  She then finally was ready and I talked to her.  Explained that getting frustrated is a part of life but we have to relax.   Seeing her does remind me of my self sometimes how i grew up.  I admit I did get my parents to chase me around from time to time.

As time goes on we just have to keep our cool and remember we have to go slow and remember they are only kids.  We have to just remain relaxed to show our children by example.  Of course there is always a time out session as well....

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Christopher

The Cub Scout Klondike

Following the Boy Scout Klondike is the Cub Scout Klondike.  This one is just as much fun and gives the younger scouts a time to come and do events as they get ready for Boy Scouts.  This year we were at North Ponds Park in Webster.  We had the Webster Fire Dept come out and show us how to do an Ice rescue.  I ran the sled rescue and the kids had a great time, my brother like the Boy Scout event did branding.  We had Ice Fishing, log cabin building, snowshoe running, and even hotdog cooking.  The kids had so much fun and my Brother, Dad and I again were out in the cold.  It's good to see how active the kids were and how much they enjoy scouting.

I hope you enjoy the pics!

Always remember,
You are never alone...

The Klondike as come and gone.

This year's Boyscout Klondike was one to remember.  I have been helping since I was about 17 years old.  Sometimes when I look back to one of my first few I feel it was a life time ago.  We have traveled through many parks and I have now had kids go this year that weren't even born yet when i first started.  This year we all got together again, the weather was cold but it wasn't snowing.  I did the snowball throw and like so many years got it set up.  This year we did First Responders appreciation, we had fire fighters, police, EMT's and different groups of people that help us when we first need help.  They walked out and retired a flag, my Dad talked about what they do for us and a community, how they risk their lives and how some have given theirs.  He talked about the fire fighter and police that lost their lives on Christmas eve of 2012 and how tragic that was.

We started the morning off and the kids then went to the events.  It was a good day, the kids kept busy and I was busy all day.  We broke for lunch and had some time to just relax and talk to leaders that I grew up with.  We talked about how scouts has changed and feel not as many kids are involved.  When I was growing up there were many strong troops.  Now there are troops merging to stay alive.  I do have to say the next few years will be critical.  I just hope it doesn't get all about politics, it should be about the cause and how when scouts started there was no money.  How often I feel when anything gets to big politics comes in and money as well.

My brother did branding again as he has for so many years.  When the day wound down we ended up just having a great time.  I always love helping out for this event because it just always one of my favorite's, all the events the kids having fun and the scout spirit.  We ended by giving the awards and then the great sled race!  The kids had so much fun and they all did a great job.  We wrapped up and said our goodbye's as yet another Klondike as ended.  This one was very special because my Dad want's to retire from running them.  He has been running them for so long and now he wants to just step back and retire which I believe he should.  My future, well I guess I'll just see.  I have a whole year to figure things out.

I hope you all enjoy the pics!

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Love,
Christopher
