A Mid Week Break

Hello all!  Tonight we had a nice night.  Quinn had some dinner with us and then got to open some presents from Kayla's parents.  It was so nice of them to think of her.  After dinner we did some reading and then off to bed!  We have a big weekend coming up.

Also don't forget today was National Cat Day! So Eve got her nails clipped and a even had time for Quick pic.  I think she is more like a Puma now!  Hug your Cat today!

The weekend Update!

This weekend Kayla's parents came up to visit and spend some time with us.  It was really nice to see them because it has been a few months.  Her Mom and Dad came in Friday and left Sunday afternoon.  Friday we had a late dinner and just caught up, Saturday we got up and got started on the house.  Kayla took her Mom shopping and Kayla's Dad and I picked up some things from Lowe's.  My parents as well as Kayla and her parents help get us a new light for the dining room!  Her father and I put up the light and had a great time doing it.

Later that night we had my parents over for dinner and the six of us had a nice meal and got to catch up.  Later my Brother, Aunt and friends Paul and Amanda came over to help celebrate my birthday.  We had a nice time, a little bit of cake and great company.  The next day we had breakfast with Kayla's parents and then did a few more things before they left.  We had some small shopping to do and put some more blinds up!  The weekend was very productive and now our dining room looks complete!

Kayla and I visited Paul and Amanda later Sunday and saw their new house!  It was really cute!  After some final shopping and some dinner the weekend came to a close.  Even though we did work we did get to relax and have fun.  This weekend is Halloween and we can't wait!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

You are never alone...

Getting ready for the cold season.

As fall is in full swing we are making sure the house is ready.  The windows are down and the storms are in place.  I will take the time to get the furnace turned on to make sure it is set and also the snowblower.  I think we are pretty set except for just some outside stuff.  I have a few more times to cut the grass and I do need to get a tarp for the outside wood pile but other than that make sure you are ready!

Winter comes up fast and you don't want to check your furnace or snowblower when its cold and snowing!  My Dad has already asked me twice if I checked my snowblower, I have not, lol I will!  Make sure your middle window is down the middle glass one that is, this will keep your house warmer and protected.  Also bring your screens up to, this will protect them from the elements.  They say it will be a cold winter so get ready!

I will post more about this as it gets colder and closer to winter!  I would start now however, because you never know when it will just drop and one day its nice and warm and the next its freezing.

I hope everyone is taking good steps to get ready!

Don't say I never warned you!

You are never alone...

The Fall Post!

I do love this post and time of year!  This is when we get our pumpkins and hang out with spooky movies and hang out late!  Saturday we got up and had some breakfast and then did some math work.  I  am still trying to work with Quinn on her Math and Reading as the weekends progress.  We had some lunch and then headed out to have some fun.

The day was cold and had rained some in the morning so the pumpkin patches were not as busy.  We got to Powers and started looking around!  We found some we loved and then looked around and saw some of the animals!  Quinn got to pet the sheep and then we headed in to get a Pie and some Apple Cider.  Quinn had fun and we also got to go through the big stalk teepee's!

When we got home and my parents stopped over to say hello.  We haven't seen them in a while and we all got to catch up and just talk.  We had some dinner and a piece of Pie!  My parents said goodbye and then we put on some spooky kids movies and carved Quinn's pumpkin.  This was our second year doing this and Quinn get's so excited!  We helped her with the hard parts and she did great.  We had our fall snacks and drinks and spooky movies on.  It was in full swing.

Sunday we spend the relaxing.  We did however get out to get Quinns Halloween Costume! We go every year and pick out what ever she likes.  We went to Party City Quinn looked around and found something!  Sorry, have to wait to find out!  The rest of the day we just relaxed it was really cold out so we stayed warm and just played.  Quinn had her bears downstairs and other toys and we just took it easy.  Later on we did make some cookies!  Spooky Cat ones!  Quinn had so much fun and of course the battery was dead on my camera but i'll get it charged and we will be back in business!

All in all the weekend was good and October is still far from over!  I hope you enjoy the pics!

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Christopher

It's the weekend again!

Well I don't know about you but I'm ready for the weekend.  The week was long and well hot, for some reason it was about 80.  As the weekend approached Quinn's Mom told me she vountereed for the Hoe down at Quinns school.  Already made plans I told her I need to get and and go.  She said fine but I'd have to picker her up there.  I said fine, when I arrived the place was packed and the line was out the door.  I got in and looked around, a full school.  I had a bad feeling I wasn't going to see Quinn till next year!

Well some how I found her I knew I couldn't just take her and go because she wouldn't understand and you can't just do that.  So we walked around and since her Mom got ticket's (of course) we had to spend them.  It was fine except the event was big and I had plans.  So we got her something to eat and got her face painted.  I try to remember this event is for the school and kids but being a single Dad who doesn't see their child much gets frustrated.  Quinn hugged me and smeared her face painting and the drama started...  We got it cleaned and a new one on.  Then she played one more game and we left.  I was home before 8.

I txted her Mom just letting her know that's not right to do, just make plans that go into another persons time.  When I pick her up early or drop her off I have to ask so I just said to please do the same because my plans were lost because of it.

With Saturday in full swing I will see how things go and how Quinn acts.  Recently she has been spoiled and getting angry if she doesn't get her way.  I hope it will change... I doubt it thought... Life will teach her though...  It always does...

Weekend Score:
Quinn's Mom: 1
Dad: 0

The Birthdays continue!

September is a busy month, my Aunts birthday was also that month.  Only about a few weeks ago we told he we would have dinner.  The three of us headed over for dinner and spent some time with her.  We got there and I started up the grill as Quinn looked over the gardens with my Aunt.

We all sat down for dinner and had a great meal.  As Quinn gets older she is can do more like helping out and if you ask her she will listen and help out.  She loves helping out and being a part of the team.  After we had some cake and gave my Aunt her card and gifts!  She had a wonderful evening and it was nice getting some updated pictures of Quinn and my Aunt.  She hasn't seen Quinn in a long time so it was good to update that.

After we just talked a little and then headed home.  Quinn I could tell was tired and when she gets tired she sometimes it comes out.  She has that fire in her that I see as I was a kid.  I don't know how she will grow up, I just hope I'm ready!

I hope you all enjoyed the pics!  I will get a tip soon.

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Oma's Birthday!

A few weeks ago we celebrated my Mom's birthday.  We headed over to my parents for dinner and to celebrate!  My parents have been a very big part of Quinns life and we always make time to celebrate birthdays.  My Mom's is in the beginning of September right around the start of school.

We arrived and hung out, played some games and just let my parents catch up with their grandchild.  Nice to see them with her it makes me think about when I used to visit my grandma or Oma.  After dinner we celebrated with some cake and presents!  We got my Mom a nice card and gift card to one of her favorite stores to get something nice.

Quinn helped my Mom blow out the candles when it was cake time!  Sometimes looking at these pics I still can't believe how big she is getting!

I wanted to say happy birthday again Mom!  Thanks for being such a big part of my life and always there for me.  You helped me grow and let me learn as I grew into an adult.  Now you help me with Quinn and she just loves you so much.

     Enjoy the pics!

Here my parents are with Quinn!

Tuesday's Tip: They are growing but you must watch intake

As Quinn get older she is growing more and eating more.  We have to watch her intake or she can gain weight.  Any kid can, going to the gym isn't something kids can do.  Being active is but they only play so long till they are tired.  We as adults have to give them healthy snacks and watch intake.
Quinn put up a fight this weekend because she wanted to eat and eat.  She kept asking when lunch and dinner were hours before they were ready.  We offer her healthy snacks and she does take them but rule of thumb is if a child doesn't want something healthy they probably aren't hungry and just want junk food.

Keeping very little in the house we have been doing great with fruits and we took down some idea's on what Quinn said she likes.  Also remember if your child is throwing a fit they maybe tired to and just need to rest.  You can tell by the tone of their voice, you can't hide being tired.  Not in a child...  What you can do is give them a good healthy breakfast and remind them when lunch is.  A nice filling lunch and then a light snack a few hours after.  Keeping them busy also helps, keep their mind off food.  Once it gets closer to dinner time you can let them know you are getting ready to cook.

If your child throws a fit just put them in time out or let them take a break.  They need to just relax and realize meals have times and we are only trying to help.  If they ate whatever they wanted when ever they wanted we would have a problem!  When they get older they will have the knowledge to eat right if we start them off now.  The hardest thing sometimes I feel about being a parent is just getting kids on the right path.  Eating, getting your body exercise, showing them to take care of them selves.  Even saving money one day.  Remember a parents job is to get kids ready to be on their own and help our society out.  They can still rely on us, but they need to leave the nest!

Not the easiest thing I know because you feel guilty or bad but it is for their good that we watch them figure things out and grow.  For your child throwing a fit about food.  Well try some of the tips and even some of your own.

Hope I works out!

Always remember,
You are never alone...

Christopher

Finishing off the Weekend

Sunday came and the parties were over.  Quinn spend the day playing with some of her new toys and we did some reading.  Working on this is something that not all kids love but I told Quinn how important it was and how she needs it.  We had lunch and spend some of the day cleaning.

Quinn had some disagreements with the fact she can't snack all day which I will update on my Tuesday tip. This weekend was fun we just had some bad weather.  It was cold and rainy.  I can't believe how cold it has gotten.  We had a mild summer and now the cold winter air I feel is coming in sooner than usually.  We have resupplied Quinn's cloths for the winter although she is always growing.  She is still putting up some fights to do things but for the most part she does listen.  I always tell people age 5 was one of the hardest so far.  She is getting a touch of independence but then still throws fits here and there.

All in all it was a great birthday weekend for her.  The next couple weeks I plan on getting out and taking her to get a pumpkin and some cider.  Things like that, we love the fall and the fun things it brings.  Sundays always get us tired because we clean and catch up on things to do around the house for the next week or so to come.  Here we are again a new week to start.

I can't wait to keep updating you all!

You are never alone...

Quinns's Party!

Saturday we celebrated Quinn's birthday with some family and friends!  I can't believe she is 6. Where the time goes, I can't tell you.  The weekend wasn't so friendly on the weather aspect but we made it work.  We got up and had some breakfast, then headed to the Sandbox!  We have been going there for years now and Quinn loves it.  It wasn't busy and she knows her way around pretty well.

I will say she is learning, she tried to go down a small track on a little car backwards and stumbled back.  She was ok but she said she learned and when I heard that, I saw as a child she was learning.  This is what life is about, we keep our kids safe but they do have to learn that is just life.  We headed out and got some lunch and hung out waiting for family to come over.

My Parents, Aunt Ro, Kenny came over, our friends Matt and Becky stopped over and hung out as well.  We had a great little party, we had some small snacks then cake and did some presents!  Quinn got some great toys as well as some learning book and other things to help her read and grow.  After we went out side to light off more lanterns we saw 4 go up and it was just so amazing to watch them lift off.  Quinn just loves them.  I will try to get some more soon.

After everyone said their goodbye's and we headed in.  Quinn had a long day and it was off to bed.  As a single Dad I really hoped she had fun.  I know when she gets older she will let me know more of her friends but she told me she had so much fun and thats all a Dad can ask...

I hope you all enjoy the pics!

Always remember,
You are never alone.

The Weekend begins!

Today starts our weekend!  Quinns birthday weekend!  This week at work was long and I am so ready for it!  Kay cooked us some diner, we had mashed potato's, chicken and veggies!  It was a great healthy dinner and Quinn even ate some veggies!  She has been doing very well when it comes to eating healthier.

We then went outside to light some Chinese lanterns off!  The neighbors even came out and joined us.  As we went out and lit them off we were in awe as they drifted away.  I hope the weather agrees this weekend.  I have so much to catch everyone up on, but now its time to put the little one down for bed!

See you all tomorrow.
